How to be More Efficient

Have been reading a book recently by Stephan R. Covey,
The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.

If you have not read this classic book, I recommend you do.

It is a very profound and fundamental book and is one of
those where you go 'aha' several times.

One 'aha' moment I had yesterday in reading this was on
the subject of daily planning. You know how many people
have daily planners and daily plans, 'to-do lists' and all that?

Well, I found the problem with those systems.

The success 'secret' is as follows:

1. When you plan daily as a routine, what you end up doing is
prioritizing and doing all the noisy and distracting things that
you have been hit with recently.

You end up doing a lot of things that seem urgent but are not
necessarily important in the overall scheme of acheiving your
goals.

2. Planning WEEKLY is the way to go, not daily. The WEEK is
a well established unit of time in the world at large. It is how
people work, get paid, get things done.

So why not plan by the week?

You can assign certain important things to be done on certain
days and then focus on those things.

3. Daily planning would just be an adjustment of the weekly
plan depending on what comes up daily.

Yes, you would deal with urgent things as part of your adjustment,
but try to start differentiating more between 'urgent and important'
and 'urgent and unimportant'.

4. Your weekly plan would be aligned to your overall personal or
business mission statement or both (or your goals) and would
implement them.

5. You have to have a balance of 'productive activity' (things
that generate income for example) and building up 'Production
CAPACITY' (things like building a business, self-education or
other things that increase your CAPACITY to create more
income or other productive activity.

Focus on only one or the other and nothing much gets done in
the long run and you end up working more and more on 'noise',
'distraction' and unproductive things or things unaligned to
your goals.

6. Important 'capacity building' things are:

a. Prevention activities such as exercise, good eating
b. Relationship building (relationships are more important than
transactions for the long term)
c. Recognizing new opportunities.
d. Planning

EFFECTIVE PEOPLE ARE NOT PROBLEM MINDED THEY
ARE OPPORTUNITY MINDED. THEY FEED OPPORTUNITIES
AND STARVE PROBLEMS.

There is a lot more to it than that, but just focusing more on the
above and focusing on your goals and the overall weekly actions
that need to happen to get you there will be effective in helping
you accomplish your goals both in business and personally.

De-Stressing From The IRS!

The below is good news that will help you in your home business
and personal life if you are American under the IRS tax scheme.

It is an e-mail I received from one of my favorite tax gurus (I
am part of his mailing list as I am interested in everything he
has to say when he has an update). I suggest you too get on

I head him speak live in Tampa as part of an investment
convention I attended there in 2008 and I can assure you that
this guy can save you thousands of dollars per year in tax
payments.

A "KINDER, GENTLER" IRS? OR A "DESPERATE" IRS?
EITHER WAY, IT'S GOOD NEWS

More than 11 million Americans are out of work, and the IRS is
afraid they may have a really hard time collecting taxes this
year.

So they've softened some of the rules, such as:

● IRS agents now have greater authority to hold off on
collections in cases where taxpayers simply can't pay.

● Those paying off-back taxes under approved Installment
Agreements can skip a payment or get their monthly payment
amount reduced without automatically voiding their existing
installment agreement.

●, The IRS has set up a special unit to handle cases where the
loss in a home's resale value has kept them from reaching an
"offer in compromise" with taxpayers who can't pay their back
taxes and are seeking terms to settle the tax debt for less than
what's owed.

● For taxpayers whose wages or bank accounts are garnished
for delinquent back taxes, the IRS is speeding up "levy releases."

In a statement released by the IRS, Commissioner Doug Shulman
said, "I've instructed all personnel to be sensitive to taxpayers,
especially those who have previously been compliant. If they call
us or write to us, our people have been instructed to work with
taxpayers through these tough economic times."

New Years Resolutions versus Real Life Goals

Forget New Year's Resolutions - They
Don't Work

Goal setting expert explains real success lies in life plans,
not in making resolutions.

"You can forget about making New Year's Resolutions
if you're hoping for a successful outcome. Most aren't
worth the paper they're written on," says Vic Johnson,
a leading goal setting and motivation expert.

Most New Year's Resolutions have gone by the wayside
before January is over and most won't even be remembered
six months later.

And the reason is pretty simple.

Most are made in response to something negative; a
habit or situation that the person wants to change or
end.

And therein lies the problem - it's hard to develop
momentum from a negative response. It is always
easier to move toward something than away from
something.

Consider one of the most adopted goals --- weight
loss. No one can get excited about losing weight - it
requires deprivation. It's a negative response to
concerns about appearance, health, etc. The results
of weight loss New Year's Resolutions demonstrate
their weakness.

A survey sponsored by Gardenburger found that
more than three-fourths of all women between the
ages of 25 and 54 make diet and weight-loss plans
each year.

Nearly nine of 10 respondents reported only
occasional or no success, while almost half lost little
or actually gained weight instead.

"The people who succeed at losing weight and
maintaining the loss have usually been motivated
by a dream much bigger and more positive than
just losing weight," explains Johnson. "They see
themselves living a healthy lifestyle. They begin
to act and think like people who are in good
physical shape.

"There's more of a radical change in a person's
thinking and actions than you see with most
resolutions. It wouldn't be possible to effect and
sustain such a radical change unless the person
is motivated by a big dream that is positive in
nature."

Another popular aim is to quit smoking. Johnson
himself was a three-pack-a-day smoker until he
celebrated a smoke-free New Year's sixteen years
ago.

"For over twenty years I had tried to quit many
times using every tool and technique I'd hear about.
But as long as I was trying to quit, I couldn't break
the grip.

"Instead, I developed a dream to become a non-
smoker. I fell in love with the idea of breathing
clean air instead of smoky air, of my body and
clothes smelling nice instead of smoky. I thought
about how wonderful it would be to taste food
again."

"I decided to start acting and thinking like a non-
smoker, and when the thinking took hold I simply
quit smoking. In all the years since, I've never
wanted another cigarette, never even thought
about wanting one."

According to Johnson, the best goal to set
is one that calls for the individual to create
a plan for their life based on a set of personal
dreams.

"Most people are in a free-fall through life,
careening from one crisis to the next. If you
were going to build a new house and you had
this idea for a fabulous master bedroom suite,
you wouldn't rush out and start building the
master bedroom. You'd have a complete plan
before you started."

the same manner, you end up with a much
better chance of achieving success."

This blog is about wealth building. It is a subject
that most people love to think about but only 5%
actually DO for real. Sad but true.

May be a bit unpleasant to think of, but it is very
much like quitting smoking or getting in shape. It
is not the ONE SHOT IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION
that this lazy society adores. It takes some planning
and work and a lifetime commitment.

So you can take the hard way out and do nothing
and then one day die broke or end up in your best
retirement years with only your shirt on your back.

Condo Vultures -- Profitable Trend In Real Estate Investment

A hot subject on Google right now is 'condo vultures'.

This is a term and action that has come about for the
incredible bargains that are to be found on condos and

to gradually pay for your condo are the same funds that others
that are not in this program are spending on consumable JUNK
and interest payments to banks on mortgages and credit cards.

net worth!

And, instead of paying DOUBLE for your home like with a bank,
you are paying LESS for it than fair market value! Talk about a
reverse!

of your condo or other home will be about $200,000 or
$250,000 when you take possession (FREE AND CLEAR).

THAT is solid value added to your life! It cannot get more

This cannot be stressed enough. An old story shows this well.

"Romanov was worried. He had been walking for two days now,
and his horse was showing signs of fatigue, loaded as she was
with goods that Romanov had traded for at the marketplace
in Damascus.

"It had been a good trip so far, and he hoped to sell the goods
for a tidy profit once he got home. But that was at least
another two days away.

"He worried for his horse, but he could ill afford any delays,
for his provisions were limited. He looked at his horse again,
and the horse looked back at Romanov, as if signaling to his
master that she was too tired now and needed to rest.

"Romanov stopped, released the burden from the horse, and
let her roam free. He sat down by the roadside, lost in thoughts
about the remainder of his journey and how to complete it.

"At some length of time, Romanov spotted a young boy, carrying
what looked like a toolbox, walking briskly along the same path,
rapidly approaching him. Romanov called out, "Please, Sir, I am
a weary traveler, and need some help. My name is Romanov".

"The young man, upon coming closer, replied, 'Hello Mr. Romanov,
my name is Fyodor. I am a student at the University here, but
currently I am on my way to assist my uncle in his workshop.
What is your problem? If I can, I will be happy to help you'.

"Romanov then related his story and told the boy about his tired
horse, his goods and his eagerness to return home. Fyodor thought
for a moment, looked at the horse, and told Romanov 'Sir, I can
help you, but it will cost you 10 gold coins! Can you afford to pay
that sum?'

"10 gold coins!" blurted Romanov, gasping at the steep price
Fyodor was asking. '10 gold coins it will be, Sir, and I promise
that you will be home in two days, with horse and goods intact.
You will earn many times that sum with the goods that you will
trade there', replied a confident Fyodor.

"Romanov had only 10 gold coins with him, but the desire to go
home quickly and sell the goods was greater still, and he agreed
to Fyodor's price. Fyodor was happy at this deal since he had no
money at all, an all too common situation for him!

"He immediately proceeded to a nearby forest, cut down some
small trees, and using his tools, carefully crafted a cart with four
wheels, and yoked the horse to it. He then loaded all the goods
on the cart, and had the traveler sit on the cart as well.

"The horse, well rested by now and not having to carry the load
directly, was able to pull the cart easily and Romanov could now
complete his journey comfortably. Romanov was very pleased
and gave 10 gold coins to young Fyodor and journeyed
homeward."

What Lesson do we learn from this?

Before the transaction occurred between Fyodor and Romanov,
the total wealth between the two was:

A horse (Romanov)
Goods (Romanov)
10 gold coins (Romanov)
Toolbox (Fyodor)

At the end of the transaction, the total wealth between the two
became:

A horse (Romanov)
Goods (Romanov)
10 gold coins (Fyodor)
Toolbox (Fyodor)
Cart! (Romanov)

The ownership of the 10 gold coins changed hands, but
the total wealth has increased by the addition of the cart!

The total wealth in the economy (in this case Romanov
and Fyodor) has grown, and has grown in proportion to
the human effort involved.

In other words, this is not a zero-sum game with the same
money and value always changing hands, but value can be
created or invented at will and added to the world infinitely!

Again, WEALTH IS CREATED BY ADDING VALUE!

Why You Are Not Wealthy

You will notice more and more reference to financial
education as you look through wealth building blogs
and websites and get more familiar with the works
of Robert Kiyosaki.

Robert and Donald Trump are apparently working
on a new book More Important than Money (working
title only), the gist which is that knowledge is more
important than money.

You will find this covered in the Wealth Building
Enterprises website as well ... you can get rich quick
winning the lottery but you will never keep that
money for long because it is not WEALTH that you
have worked to build.

You were not educated on how to accumulate it (if you
were not already doing so before the windfall) and you
were also not likely educated on how to maintain and
increase it. The historical odds are that it will be
wasted away in a few years.

But WHY ARE YOU NOT WEALTHY? (if you are not)
Or why are you not at least moving in that direction?

I recently came across a blog by a Canadian former
teacher with several years experience in the classroom.
He emphasized that the current school system is failing
our children in some ways because amongst what they
teach, they omit FINANCIAL EDUCATION.

He had graduated school with a B.A., a B.Ed. and a
Diploma in Technology Education and had never
had a course or even a lecture on personal finance
anywhere throughout! He is very familiar with the
high school curriculum and does not know of any
course that even broaches the subject.

He states that curriculum writers grew up in the
era where getting a good education, therefore a
good career, and qualifying for a good pension
were the safest and easiest way to succeed.

And that going out and taking "risks" by starting
a business, investing, etc., was not something that
well-educated people needed to do.

But we are no longer in a strictly industrial age. And
even though we are still surrounded with many
industrial applications and jobs (and always will be,
as someone needs to make the cars and furniture
and build the factories that create the goods that
we consume), the world has shifted more to an age
of technology and information.

And this has created more and more opportunities
to find a NICHE that people are interested in or want
to know about. More people are shifting to starting
their own small businesses or working from home
(Internet or home business).

IN OTHER WORDS, THE THE WORLD HAS BEEN
CHANGING!!

But education has not been changing along with it! So
it continues to teach our kids in the old-school mode:
'behave', 'listen, don't speak', 'learn what we tell you',
'specialize', 'get a job', 'be a good employee', 'work your
whole life', 'get promotions and raises', 'buy a house
with a 20 year mortgage' - on and on.

But where in all this does one learn to save money?
To invest? To build ASSETS that create cash flows
for you? To create multiple sources of passive income
that create WEALTH for you so that you can achieve
your dreams?

Where are the lessons on isolating your life goals or
dreams and creating the plans to achieve them? Where
is the info on developing a master-mind group and
studying the lives of people that have achieved what
you want to achieve?

This information has been increasingly available over
the past decade or more as self-education but the main
educational system has not caught on. Why this is the
case is the question for another day.

Lest we fail to give recognition where it is due, there are
no doubt (and I have heard of them) many INDIVIDUAL
and excellent teachers who DO teach some of these things
and try to impress individualism, goal-orientation and
other such points on their pupils. These teachers (and
even individual schools) are very valuable to the society.
But they are RARE and are the exception.

So if you are struggling AT ALL financially, it is time to
add to your own financial education. AND share what
you learn with your kids (if you have any) as you start
to see it work! AND, please start to question teachers,
principals and Boards of Education about this: where is
the financial education in our schools?

School education is valuable for learning many things.
It could be SO much more effective, but this will only
happen when ENOUGH people raise enough hell to
make the change happen. It will take some time.

But it starts with US as adults becoming financially
educated! The system has lasted in this semi-obsolete
state for so long because we ourselves have not been
financially educated enough to notice it was missing in
schools!

So please use the website below. Read the books of Robert
Kiyosaki and the recent books of Donald Trump. Build
your financial I.Q. step by step to genius level and teach
it to your kids while you learn.

Do you want your kids to fall into the same financial and
consumer debt traps that you have fallen into (and that
80% or more of the society has fallen into?) I don't think
so!

You can guarantee a better future for them by acting on
this information. One day they will thank you with tears
in their eyes, as they see the bad effects on other kids
whose parents did NOT take the time to know and teach
them these things!

You will want to be on the plus side of the ledger on this
one! You will save your kids a lot of grief and set yourself
up to live the rest of your life in increasing abundance.

Wealth follows knowledge. Knowledge enables action.
Consistent action based on your financial goals will take
you toward the wealth you seek.

But will YOU take the time and effort to increase your
financial knowledge (and that of your children) and build
a true generational wealth that you can pass onto
subsequent generations?
